Akritti Masih – Foundation Health and Social Care

Senior health and care assistant Akritti chose to enrol on the Foundation Health and Social Care programme at City of Oxford College (part of Activate Learning) because of family recommendations: ‘My uncle and my cousin both graduated with foundation degrees from this college. I love Oxford; it is a beautiful place and the lifestyle is great.’

Akritti found the course helpful, in particular teaching staff: ’They explained things very well, often using their own personal experience, which helped me understand my studies much better. The facilities were also good, especially being able to access Oxford Brookes University’s resources.’

She credits the Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care programme with boosting her professional practice: ‘The course educated me through practical assessments at my workplace, as well as academically. I enjoyed learning how to provide holistic care and good practice for patients, which is at the centre of my work.’

‘I would advise to anyone thinking about doing this course to definitely look it, as it is very helpful and convenient. You go to college once a week, so you can have a family life, as well as working to earn money.’
