South Central Ambulance Service visit Reading College

Five staff from SCAS visited Reading College on Wednesday to talk to Health & Social Care and Public Service students. The day involved a recruitment talk about the different careers within the Ambulance service, demonstrations on how to use a Defibrillator and how to give CPR. The students were also shown around a Community First Responder vehicle which is called out to local emergencies to provide lifesaving first aid before an ambulance arrives.

Laura Farrow from the Recruitment team at SCAS said, ‘It was great to come and help students gain an understanding of our Trust and be able to showcase first hand some of the services that we have within SCAS. The interactive sessions and Recruitment presentations were greatly received by the students, we hope to have helped all of the students gain an understanding of how to use the AED (automatic electronic device) Defibrillator and most importantly see for themselves that this can be done anytime by anyone anywhere’.

Christine King, Group Employability Adviser said, ‘These are such vital skills for our students to learn. Many thanks to the SCAS team for giving up their time to support our students’.
